Dreaming Wall Flower

Dreaming Series Wall Flower When I remember to have my sketch book with me, I will find people just dying to be drawn. This construction worker was just relaxing from his duties and I captured him in repose. I thought it would be fun to place him in front of a vibrant colored wallpaper instead of a boring construction site. Mixed media/fiber, 16” W x 20 “ L, matted for framing $320

The Garden of the Gods has been a special place for me for many years. I used to work nearby and I would take my lunch and sit outside enjoying the magnificent view of Colorado red rocks. There are numerous places in Colorado and New Mexico that have equally beautiful views, but this view is one of my favorites. I enjoy making these small works that are quicker to create but stoke my creative energy. Colorado Red Rocks was sold to another lover of this famous view.   Sold

Music at the Museum

Mixed Media/Fiber          18“W x 24" L I could hear this wonderful Jazz group playing off in the distance. I then  looked out the window from my loft in Denver. I interpreted the plaza around the art museum showing  a bit of mystery around enjoying the night in the city.  City shapes, shadows, and lights are intriguing to me. I want the viewer to experience the concreteness of buildings versus the ephemeral feel of people in the nighttime city landscape.  Hopefully, you can imagine the sounds of music.     $400

Summer Ski Slope

Mixed Media/Fiber      24" W x 12" L Almost everyone has heard of Aspen mountain and the challenging skiing that can be experienced. The town of Aspen itself still has a feel of Swiss villages but when wandering the center of town, you feel more like you are on rodeo drive in Los Angeles. The shops are no longer local but are filled with famous, high end names such as Prada. Yet you could avoid this part of Aspen and enjoy the natural beauty.  I visited the town of Aspen and the mountain overlooking the town in the middle of August.  I took  photos from the top of the mountain after taking a breath-taking gondola ride. The beauty of our Colorado mountains is still there. There is a vague shadow of where the ski sloops are groomed and made ready for winter. It was fun to recreate the feeling of the summer mountain in my art.   $375

Ghost Ranch

Mixed Media/Fiber             24" W x 20" L There is a special place in Northern New Mexico called The Ghost Ranch. I am not sure why the native people called it this name but now it has become a place for artists to study and hike. It was originally owned by Georgia O’Keefe and she willed the land to the Presbyterian Church. I spent a week there studying painting techniques and hiking almost every morning. The views are beautiful. It makes no difference the direction you choose to look. The prevalent red rock formations dominate all views attracted me to this view immediately.  I did a quick watercolor sketch and when I  returned home to create this fiber art piece.     $480

South Fork

Mixed Media/Fiber     20" W x 14" L

There is a beautiful spot in South west Colorado called South Fork. The small town is named after the river that runs through it. I had the privilege of spending a couple days in a cabin that overlooks the river  It had been a very rainy spring, so the river ran extremely high and the sound of rushing water was mesmerizing. I painted several watercolor and used ink as well as the paints’ while sitting on the deck overlooking the river. When I returned home, I created this mixed media piece.   $320

Three Friends

Mixed Media/Fiber     24"W   x12"L Morocco is a land of diversity; there are ancient cities with winding marketplaces and the vast Sahara Desert. Morocco is one of the few Muslim countries that is accepting of other religions and embraces  all interpretations of Islam. Women are freer than in many Muslim countries but are still restricted by cultural norms that limit a women’s freedom to pursue education or interests away from home and children. I had the chance to visit a small coffee shop/bakery that is a co-op, and the women can earn a living. These three women were working and chatting together.  They were clearly friends as well as work colleagues. The clothing and surrounding décor was very traditional. I was fascinated by the experience and photographed the women working and was excited to create this art piece when I returned home.        $375
