Light and Shadow

Mixed Media/Fiber        39″W x 24″ L
Since time immortal, artists have watched how familiar scenes change with the time of day. I am certainly not comparing myself to Monet, but I have always been struck by his persistence in painting all the various changes of light, color and shadow on the cathedral in Rouen in northern France. I have done similar studies in my sketch pad of the parking garage and bus stop that I can view out of my west window. 14 stories below me. Of course there isn’t any beauty of architecture but there is certainly a beauty in the shapes created by the sunlight and the shadows that can changes quickly. Unlike Monet I am not fascinated enough to create an entire series but I was intrigued enough to create this mixed media piece.    $1,000
