Flower Dress
Landscape in Fashion
Mixed Media/Fiber 24″ W x 48″ L
In 2018, the Denver Art Museum did an extensive Dior exhibit. I loved seeing fashions that I remembered seeing in fashion magazines. I probably even wore facsimile dresses reproduced for a mass market. It was easy to admire how a simple sketch could be translated into a garment to be worn and cherished. I especially responded to the evening dresses by Galliano. They were incredible works of art. How I would have loved being able to wear any of them. The Flower Dress was my favorite; I could imagine being dressed like a flower garden and going to a gala. Thus, I decided to create my own garden landscape on a figure. All the flowers are individually collaged on the piece. Color is the primary focus. $1,200
