Autumn Aspen II

Autumn Aspen II I love our Colorado Fall colors, and I try to find a hike each year  where I can reveal in the shimmering gold, I also hate the ubiquitous aspen tree art one finds in galleries throughout Colorado. That is why I created the four-part aspen series that depicts all 4 seasons. I had materials left over and decided to create this small fall aspen  piece. The colors remain inspiring. I cannot wait for another season to head to our glorious mountains. Mixed Media/Fiber 16” W x 20” L, matted for framing SOLD

Springtime Aspen

    Mixed Media/Fiber       12" W x 24" L
Every artist I know struggles to represent the true color of green that means springtime has arrived.  I have tried with paint, but my usual methodology is to mixed small pieces of yellow and shades of light green fabric similar to the technique used by the Impressionists. This beautiful shade of vibrant green calls those of us that hike into the mountains. Only aspen trees seem to have leaves of the glorious green color that deepens into another color in the Summer.      $300

Summer Aspen

  Mixed Media/Fiber       12" W x 24" L
In the early Summer, our Colorado mountains become alive with the colors of wildflowers. The deep green of the aspen trees is the background for the many colors of the flowers on the ground. My favorites of blue bells, wild roses and the many yellow flowers that often are nameless to me,  are nevertheless beautiful. I never ignore the beauty of the aspen that are mixed into our evergreen forests but admittedly in the Summer, the quest is to find the flowers.    $300

Autumn Aspen

   Mixed Media/Fiber      12" W x 24" L
The gold and shimmering yellow is what first makes one notice the Aspen trees with their white trunks scarred with black. Yes, we all have our favorite places to drive and to hike to see this Colorado wonder of gold and yellow seeming to be sunlight itself. I have numerous pictures of the aspen in the Autumn, but many were taken in Estes Park or Rocky Mountain National Park.      $300

Winter Aspen

   “Winter Aspen”
When the aspen does not have any leaves, you notice the beautiful designs created on their trunks. I have had the wonderful experience of seeing some of these scars formed when watching the fall ritual of elk fighting and rubbing their antlers against the trees. It is easy to imagine the underground web that connects every aspen to the other trees in their unique community of trees. Creating a winter scene requires careful use of lavenders, blues, and even yellows that make up the white snow. It is a beautiful time in an aspen grove.     $300
